JERRY W. BLACKWELL


Jerry Blackwell is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Blackwell Burke P.A. He serves as National Counsel for several major corporations, having represented them in federal and state courts in 47 states, Australia, England, Puerto Rico, and Canada. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota as well as in federal district courts in Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, and Illinois, as well as the Fourth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the United States Supreme Court. Jerry has broad expertise in civil litigation, specializing in products liability defense, toxic tort litigation, and commercial litigation. 


Jerry has received numerous honors, including consistently being named “Super Lawyer” since 2002 by Minnesota Law & Politics, a recognition based on attorney polling across Minnesota. In 2007, he received the Distinguished Citizen Award from Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, the Equal Justice Award in 2006, and he was named Minnesota Attorney of the Year in 2005. In 2007 he became the first African American lawyer in Minnesota invited to join the American College of Trial Advocates. He was named “Rising Star” by Minnesota Law & Politics from 1998-2002, and one of the “40 under 40” by City Business Journal in 1998. 


As a result of his dedication to the legal profession, he has taught numerous classes and presentations for the Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, National Bar Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, National College of Advocacy, and for various Fortune 500 corporations. He has published notebooks, articles and various educational materials for many of these organizations, as well as for Trial Magazine and Corporate Counsel Magazine. Jerry is fluent in Spanish.
