BACKGROUND

Andrew Schalkwyk represents Fortune 500 and internationally traded corporate clients nationally in a variety of civil litigation matters, including products liability, premises litigation, consumer protection litigation, contract and employment disputes, business torts, and other complex litigation.

Prior to joining Blackwell Burke PA, Mr. Schalkwyk worked at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, both located in the San Francisco Bay Area. While at these firms, he had a diverse practice representing Fortune 500 companies and individuals in civil litigation, including commercial disputes, contract disputes, trademark, copyright and patent litigation, and white collar defense.

In addition, Mr. Schalkwyk had a robust pro bono practice, which included representing clients seeking post-conviction relief, a veteran before the Court of Appeals for Veteran Claims, asylum seekers, and providing voter protection on election day.

Mr. Schalkwyk clerked for the Hon. Michael W. Fitzgerald on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and California.

When he is not zealously defending clients, Mr. Schalkwyk enjoys photography, travel, and watching soccer.
