    Law Technology News Publishes Article About E-Discovery Written by Brendan M. Kenny

    Law Technology News magazine published an article describing recent amendments to Minnesota’s e-discovery rules written by Blackwell Burke P.A. attorney Brendan M. Kenny. Mr. Kenny analyzed how the 2013 amendments reflect a nationwide movement to emphasize disclosure, collaboration, and proportionality in e-discovery. He concluded that the changes should help litigants and courts resolve cases speedily, effectively, and fairly by narrowing the parameters of e-discovery.     Peter J. Goss Discusses FDA Evidence in Medical Device Product Liability Cases

    Law360 interviewed Blackwell Burke P.A. partner Peter J. Goss for two recent articles highlighting the use of FDA evidence in medical device product liability litigation.  The first article discusses Johnson & Johnson’s victory in its second metal-on-metal hip case, after taking an $8.3 million plaintiff’s verdict in the first.  In the second case, unlike the first, the jury was provided evidence that the company had complied with the FDA’s 510(k) pre-market clearance process.  Goss explains that the company’s ability to show that it “played by the rules” likely contributed to the different outcome.  The full article is available to Law360 subscribers here.     Mike Hatch Receives the Joan and Walter Mondale Award for Public Service

    Former Minnesota Attorney General and Blackwell Burke P.A. Special Counsel Mike Hatch was selected to receive the Joan and Walter Mondale Award for Public Service.  The Minnesota DFL Party will present the award to Mr. Hatch at its second annual Humphrey-Mondale Dinner on April 20th.  More details about the award are available on the University of Minnesota Law School website.
